We always hear people talk about the fast pace of Android growth. Now we have some facts to base these claims on. Most Android manufactures has posted their fiscal numbers from Q2 and the results bode well for the Android OS.

Smartphone shipments were up 64% and Android itself grew 886% over this period. For a little bit of comparison, Apple’s iPhone was up a meager 61% in Q2. Android is still behind them in market share but the gap is closing fast.

The US Smartphone market grew 41% and leads the world in the Smartphone market with 14.7 million units sold in Q2. Americans equate for 20% of all Smartphone sold in the world. Android represents a whopping 34% of all phones purchased in the US. Our favorite OS is on the rise and this trend will continue in foreseeable future.
