The Nexus One may be out of stock in Google’s phone store but that isn’t stopping developers from finding out cool new things that it can do. Last time we seen it on a rocket inside of a satellite that was headed to space, this time around it might help our troops translate foreign languages in Afghanistan.
DARPA is working on a real-time translation systems for use in the field. They teamed up with National Institute of Standards and Technology to help them test three different translation systems. This technology is called the TRANSTAC project. And the product of choice is the Nexus One. Initial testing’s has been good and this could get some real world action very soon.
