I am a techie, in the most non-geeky sense. Of course I am not saying that being a "geek" is a bad thing... but it gets a bad connotation. ;)
Technology has always caught my attention, especially computers and electronic devices. So naturally I have enjoyed experiencing the evolution of smartphones throughout "my time". I am currently finishing up my degree in Computer Science and Engineering and will be graduating in December. I have dabbled with Android development and enjoy working with the SDK. :D I would only classify myself as a beginner, since I have only had time to dabble with it in my free time.
All of that aside, I am actually a normal guy. I was attracted to Android from the start because I really liked Google's approach at the whole smartphone market. I had been using other Google services, such as GMail, from the beginning so I naturally figured I would eventually switch to Android.
Unfortunately, I was not an early adopter because I could not afford a new phone at the time. I had to lurk in the shadows and wait for the right time to jump into the Android game. After allowing the Android platform to mature, and my finances to stabilize, I was finally able to purchase a Nexus One (ordered on the first day!!). Before owning my N1, I was a BlackBerry user and avid CrackBerry forum poster (was actually in the top 3 at one point and you can still find some of my helpful guides on their site). I have always been open-minded when it comes to technology and use Windows, Mac and Linux computers. My current PC is a 24" iMac... I have used Macs throughout my entire life (along with Windows). I followed the TMobile G1 when it was released and knew all about "rooting" and CyanogenMod ROM before I even purchased my Nexus. Of course, once I had my Nexus in my hands I was ready to tinker and play around. It has been such a great learning experience... it brings me back to the days when I first loaded DDWRT onto my router or created my server.
Other interests include XBox, Snowboarding, football, etc...
Glad to be a part of this Android community... I wish I would have known about it before.
