I am a techie, in the most non-geeky sense. Of course I am not saying that being a "geek" is a bad thing... but it gets a bad connotation. ;)

Technology has always caught my attention, especially computers and electronic devices. So naturally I have enjoyed experiencing the evolution of smartphones throughout "my time". I am currently finishing up my degree in Computer Science and Engineering and will be graduating in December. I have dabbled with Android development and enjoy working with the SDK. :D I would only classify myself as a beginner, since I have only had time to dabble with it in my free time.

All of that aside, I am actually a normal guy. I was attracted to Android from the start because I really liked Google's approach at the whole smartphone market. I had been using other Google services, such as GMail, from the beginning so I naturally figured I would eventually switch to Android.

Unfortunately, I was not an early adopter because I could not afford a new phone at the time. I had to lurk in the shadows and wait for the right time to jump into the Android game. After allowing the Android platform to mature, and my finances to stabilize, I was finally able to purchase a Nexus One (ordered on the first day!!). Before owning my N1, I was a BlackBerry user and avid CrackBerry forum poster (was actually in the top 3 at one point and you can still find some of my helpful guides on their site). I have always been open-minded when it comes to technology and use Windows, Mac and Linux computers. My current PC is a 24" iMac... I have used Macs throughout my entire life (along with Windows). I followed the TMobile G1 when it was released and knew all about "rooting" and CyanogenMod ROM before I even purchased my Nexus. Of course, once I had my Nexus in my hands I was ready to tinker and play around. It has been such a great learning experience... it brings me back to the days when I first loaded DDWRT onto my router or created my server. B-)

Other interests include XBox, Snowboarding, football, etc...

Glad to be a part of this Android community... I wish I would have known about it before.

love tech and have been hacking phones since the treo and tytn. I did it for the excitement and functionality. Then went to blackberry. Couldn't step down from that level of functionality and hate iproducts in general and had dicked around with winmo phones so long that the budding Android was the next option so I bought an adp (htc magic) unlocked on first day of online sales and waited for my baby to arrive in the mail. Been on Android since and ain't going nowhere now. I started to develop back then but it didn't take long to realize I wasn't very good at it but made a great guinea pig for all the old skool Android stuff... remember when we were fiending for donuts... lol

I came to Android from a Symbian phone. My wifelet wanted a phone that she could properly browse the internet on and chat on IM. An iPhone was suggested, but I've liked Apple's methods. She then stumbled on a G1 online. I'd never heard of Android or the G1 before, so I almost dismissed it, but I like most of Google's products, and after a bit of research I was impressed and I took the plunge in early 2009, buying us both a G1. After a few hours of use I was completely converted from my flagship Symbian phone to this most basic Android phone. I quickly realised that the beauty of Android is that if there's something you don't like on it then you can nearly always replace it with an app. At the same time, I discovered a thousand other things I could do with a phone.

Now I'm packing a rooted Samsung Galaxy S and I have a few apps of my own on the Market.

Let's see here....

I'm your typical geeky developer, but I actually enjoy the outdoors. Let's see...a bit of history about me and my dev "skillz".

I started building web sites when i was 13 (12 years ago), had my own web development business at the age of 14, built a popular file sharing service during the Napster-lawsuit era (not going to say the name -- but I was in talks with Morpheus to be acquired [$$$], before they were sued to death), ran one of the largest P2P web sites during that time for 4 years (not going to share that name either, but it was very lucrative), and then started getting interested in embedded software. So, I built a few iPhone apps for a company I use to work for, and then purchased the G1. Being that I develop Java-apps for a day job, I quickly started building apps for Android.

Right now I'm working on an OpenGL-based game for Android (which I will pick up some beta testers for when the time is right), and have a few more apps in the pipeline. I have a few apps on the market already which are all rather successful. I also contribute to a few open source projects, and enjoy doing work around the house -- I'm right now finishing up retiling the bathroom.

Anyway, that's me. I know a little bit about everything, haha.
