The LG Optimus Black and its ultra-bright NOVA screen will be making its way to our friends in Canada. TELUS will be the carrier of a special edition of this handset. LG and SKYP are teaming up to introduce a “SKYPE Edition” of the Optimus Black. SKYPE will be pre-installed on the device and users can charge their bill directly with SKYPE credits. While nothing is set in stone, Samsung is reportedly experiencing issues with the screen technology for the Galaxy Tab 8.9. It’s said that the company selected by Samsung is experiencing production difficulties which could result in the use of a different screen that’s inferior to the original technology and could result in a thicker Tab.

If you’re one the lucky 5,000 that has a Galaxy tab 10.1 from Google I/O, the moment you’ve been waiting for is here. Android 3.1 is now live for the Limited Edition Honeycomb slate. The update procedure is pretty straight forward as well. All you have to do is go into your settings, click about tablet then check for updates. Choose United Kingdom at the prompt then setup a Samsung account and you’re good to go. Rooted users will be delighted to know that this update doesn’t break root but if you have a custom recovery installed, do not attempt. There should be a flashable zip file for rooted users soon.

You might recognize the design of this handset from what we’ve seen from the Droid Pro. But, this is a completely new handset, it does share the same Black Berry-like form factor but this device looks a bit sleeker. It runs Android 2.1 with a fully exposed QWERTY keyboard. You’ll never have to worry about battery life with this handset. It has a huge 1820 mAh battery that’s good for 275 minutes of talk time. Motorola and Sprint has just made the Photon 4G official. This will be Sprint’s first dual-core phone and it looks awesome. It features a huge 4.3 inch qHD screen, 1GB of RAM, HDMI, kickstand and 16GB of internal storage. Gingerbread comes preinstalled and it has the latest version of MotoBlur. Here more proof that an official Gingerbread update for the T-Mobile G2 isn’t far off. Reportedly, a few users have contacted T-Mobile because they were having problems with their G2 and the replacement unit T-Mobile sent them already had gingerbread preinstalled. WildTangent and T-Mobile may be teaming up to offer game rentals for Android devices. For only a quarter, you’ll be able to rent any game for a test drive. And when your rental expires, you can either purchase the game in full or try another. If you choose to purchase the game, your small investment will be applied to the remaining balance of the title.
