Android Mixer on Facebook


Facebook needs a few good beta testers for their upcoming release of v1.6 of their Android app. If you would like to be included in the testing pool, click here to sign-up. This is going to be a huge update, it looks like a few well needed additions will be included in this update. Take a look at a few of the changes that will be included.

  • Improved News Feed including comment liking
  • Pages
  • Video Uploads
  • Many bug fixes

Zinio digital magazine app has been released onto the Android Market. This app previously was an exclusive to a few Android devices, most notable, the T-Mobile G2x. it’s now available for everyone for free and if you pick it up now, Zinio will throw in 24 free magazines. Pantech’s first Android device here in the US will be released on June 5th. The Pantech Crossover is dubbed as a sporty device and it certainly looks the part. It features a 3.1 inch screen, Android 2.2, 3MP camera and it’s powered by a 600MHZ processor. If this device performs anything like the LG Optimus One line which runs a similar processor, this will be a speedy little device. We love seeing unannounced, unreleased devices in action. Especially when it’s a device of that looks as good as this one. The Sony Ericsson Xperia ST18i has been caught live on video and we have the evidence below. You may have heard this device in the past called the Azusa or the Urushi. It features Android 2.3, a 4 inch FWVGA with 480 x 854 resolution and its powered by a 1GHZ Snapdragon with the Adreno 205 GPU. Read the rest of this entry »

When we heard that the DROID2, DROID2 Global and DROID Pro all will be receiving an update to Gingerbread, we had no idea the business end will get the update first. It looks like Gingerbread is currently making its rounds to the Droid Pro. This update not only includes a new version of Android but a new version of MotoBlur is included as well. Once this update hits your device, your Blur version will be updated to 4.6.4. You want to see how your device will perform after the update? In case you didn’t get the memo, ThreeUK will miss their promised “late May” for updating the HTC desire to Gingerbread. We know you guys were staying optimistic about possibly receiving this update on the last day but it looks like that isn’t going to happen. And the news doesn’t get any better, Three hasn’t set a new target timeframe but they do ask that you wait for more information that should be announced soon. Today’s a big day for Acer Iconia Tab A500 owners, you’re getting a huge update. And sorry, but it isn’t Android 3.1. but it is Android 3.0.1 and its brings with it a ton of fixes and this is the first step needed before the update to Android 3.1 which is scheduled for release in June. It’s no secret that ARM-based devices rule the world of Honeycomb tablets at the moment. Intel isn’t giving up without a fight, they are planning on introducing a few Honeycomb tablets that are powered by the Oak-Trail CPU. The first set of prototypes has made their way into this year Computex and while they are functioning devices, you can clearly see that they are nowhere near ready for public release. The concept is good and I’m optimistic that Intel will pull it together soon. More manufacturers mean more Android devices in the wild and that’s always a good thing. I guess this is one of those cases where you can say, “its better late than never”. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 for AT&T now has an update to Android 2.1 available. This update has been around for months for non-US X10’s and it’s finally hit the states. Plants vs. Zombies is finally available for Android. This is one of PopCap Games most popular titles and it free today only from the Amazon App Store. After today you can expect to shell out $2.99 for this title. You can also expect the paid version to hit the Android Market a week or two after today. Amazon and PopCap Games have agreed to release their titles in Amazon’s App Store before the Android Market. Check out the video below to find out how the game plays before you download it. It’s a very fun and addicting game, you won’t be disappointed unless you have an older handset. Some older and mid-range devices are currently unsupported. This is a huge download, it comes in around 75MB and it is a Wi-Fi only download.
