FRG830 is expected to hit original Droid owners anytime today. This update will be pushed out to a select few for testing and if all goes well, it’ll be sent out the masses. FRG830 is expected to be Android 2.2.1 but that’s anyone’s guess until we see it in action. And like always, shortly after this update comes to fruition we will have it for everyone to download in our forums. This update will include add 2010 Exchange support, new widgets, a new version of Twitter and various bug fixes. If you signed up to be a part of Motorola Feedback Network, you’re first in line for this update.

Rovio Mobile surprised us all this morning with the release of Angry Birds Seasons. This version features the Halloween Edition that we missed out on which features 45 new levels. It’s no secret that you can find some of the most interesting things at a flea market. One lucky guy found the deal of the century at one. The Motorola Olympus was up for sale and the guy snagged up probably for a great price. The owner apparently didn’t know what that had and the event was nice enough to show the purchaser how to by-pass the activation process. The screen is said to be larger than 3.7 inches and it has an HDMI port, microUSB, front-facing camera. A much need update to Neflix for the Logitech revue is on the way. The folks over at SatelliteGuys got a hold of it and got it on video. The preinstalled version of Netflix for the Logitech only allowed users to watch content that’s in their Instant Queue. This past Black Friday was a huge success, not only for retail shops but for mobile app developers as well. Smartphone apps sales went up by 25% over this past weekend. Thanksgiving Day was an even bigger day for app downloads, there was an increase of 54% on the holiday. Black Friday itself, app downloads was up 31%. Let’s hope this trend continues, if so, they’ll surely be more high quality apps entering the Android Market for this holiday season. Read the rest of this entry »
Google announced the addition of content rating for apps in the android Market last week. It is now live in the developer’s console. This means that starting today, a developer could attach either a “Mature,†“Teen,†“Pre-Teen,†or “All†to their app. The initial rating is purely up to the developer, it’ll be interesting to see how Google handles apps that may not be appropriately rated. The long awaited update for thegen8 Archos tablets is finally here. These tablets were promised to ship with Froyo onboard but apparently more testing was needed. Revision3 is now available for the Android OS. This app allows users to keep up with their favorite online shows from Revision3. Diggnation, Film Roit and Tekzilla are a few shows you can stream directly to your handset. This app is very well made a pretty stable for an initial release. The UI is clean and intuitive, it’s a free download available now from the Android market.
The LG Star is a Tegra 2 powered Android device, this handset may be closer to release than we thought. This handset seems to be taking shots at the current smartphone heavyweight champion (as far as graphics goes) the Samsung Galaxy S. from the quadrant scores, it seems like it can hold its own. But for a device that’s taking aim at the Galaxy S, it looks eerily similar. It has the same form factor as the Galaxy S and the custom UI looks like a Touch Wiz 3.0 knockoff.
